What we collect and why
Your email address, if you sign up
The sign-up forms send your email address to Substack, which runs the MWI Podcast newsletter. We use it to send episode notes, new-episode alerts and the gift you asked for. The legal basis is your consent. You can unsubscribe from any email in one click. Substack's own privacy policy explains how it handles your data.
Visit statistics, only if you allow them
With your permission, we use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are read. It records things like the pages you view, your device and your approximate location. It does not load until you accept statistics cookies. The data is kept for no longer than 14 months.
Episode videos, only if you allow them
Episode videos play from YouTube, in its privacy-enhanced mode. Nothing from YouTube loads until you accept video cookies or press play on a video. After that, YouTube may set its own cookies.
Server logs
Our web host keeps standard technical logs (such as IP addresses and the pages requested) to keep the site secure. This is based on our legitimate interest in running a safe website.
